Do You Still Read?

Do You Still Read?

When was the last time you picked up a book? How many books have you opened, only to set aside? Can you still finish a book now?

Yes, reading takes motivation and commitment.

We live busy lives, often in fragmented moments. When we finally have time, we just want to relax—usually by scrolling on our phones. Then we end up feeling regret—why did I waste my time again? Why did I make my mind even more tired?

In the fast-paced world of the internet, reading has quietly fallen behind.

People think reading is a slow way to gain new knowledge. Even with novels, many would rather watch those “three-minute book summaries" videos.

But the story is never the only purpose of a book. The true gain comes from feeling the characters’ emotions and their journeys through every detail the author shares.

We unconsciously connect with their feelings, stepping into their shoes and gaining experiences beyond our reality.

What we need is a state of mind.

This is just one reason I hope everyone will embrace reading again.

Another reason is that many important life lessons aren’t taught in school, at home, or in other life scenarios.

Some key life lessons seem forgotten.

How do we get along with classmates and coworkers? What are emotions? Why do we sometimes feel unexplained anger? What are the basic rules of society?

Some roles give us few chances to learn through trial and error.

How do you be a child? How do you become a cherished friend? Can our generation be good parents? Why do people say that employees don’t quit their jobs, they quit their bosses?

Even in our own lives, it feels like we can't fully take control.

Reading offers chances for self-exploration. Some books use simple words and real experiences to help us find our direction.

For example:

These books are easy to read. It’s not just their plain language; it’s also your desire to explore yourself that drives you.

Is reading hard? Yes, it can be. Knowledge doesn’t just walk into your brain effortlessly.

But is reading worth it? Absolutely. Because our lives are worth living.
